Something that homeowners usually dont think about or do is service their garage door. If you own a home and have a garage on that home, you need to make sure that you are keeping up on your garage door service. Not only can broken springs on your garage door be a pain in the butt, but they can also pose a significant danger.
As before any home improvement that you do, you want to make safety a priority before you start to do garage door service. The first thing you will want to do is clear the area and make sure there is no one else around. The last thing on the garage door for you to service would be the weather strip that is attached to the bottom. This is a somewhat simple process and you are just looking for cracks or if it is starting to come off. If your weather strip on your garage door is in bad shape, you will want to repair it or replace it to ensure that your garage stays properly insulated and to keep out and insects.
Take the time to look over these factors on your garage door at least once a month, if not more. If you keep up on your garage door service, you will not only ensure the safety of others, but also the safety of your garage door.
