An industrial overhead door should be considered as important as any other industrial equipment. They are constantly in use, opening and shutting several times in a single day and as such several aspects about them have to be carefully considered before buying them.

The quality of the door should be seriously evaluated before buying. The door should be durable to last for at least a good period of time. This depends on the quality of the hardware materials used. If the materials are not strong enough then a lot of cost has to be incurred in repairing it time and again.

Even if the cost of a industrial door is cheap and if the quality is not good then the maintenance costs occurred will be much more than the cost of a good quality industrial door, hence it is better to invest in a reasonably priced ,strong built door than a poor quality and low priced door.

First of all, depending on the application the door has to be chosen like trucking or transport business, manufacturing facilities, primary industries and so on. The sturdiness of the door has to be considered depending on the dimensions of the door, the material used and the number of times it will be opened or closed in a day. Then a door opener depending on the weight of the door should be decided. They are basically of two types- trolley and jack shift and finally either thermal or full vision window section glasses should be bought.

Overhead doors should be of compact size ensuring a better use of the inside space. They should be easy to open and operate. Heat insulation and sound proofing are added advantages. A torsion spring facilitates in the door opening so even the quality of the spring should be estimated before buying.

An anti-pinching guard helps protect us from any possible injuries from the door moving panel. Sometimes the spring or cables can loosen or break and as such a device to stop the door panel from closing if that happens is helpful. Infra red photocells should be installed on the runner which prevents the movement of the door panel if the beam is broken.

A safety rib at the bottom of the door panel stops the door movement if any obstacle is present. Seals should be fixed under the door corners to help in insulation. Handles, window sections, portholes, pvc air grilles and motor lock and release knobs are other safety features that are a must.

The number of operation cycles, the type of traffic that will pass through the door, door insulation and lighting, atmospheric conditions and safety measures are all the various factors that help in choosing a good industrial overhead door.
